Login Help

You've probably come to this page because the password box is disabled preventing you from logging in. The most likly cause is that you have Javascript disabled and are on an unsecure connection. Try using ssl encyption by using https:// instead of http://. This will give you an error explained under SSL Certificate Error.

On a typical website you password is transmitted in plain text for everyone to intercept and read. We did not want this, as many people like to use the same password for many things and we didn't want to compromise your password. Thus in order to ensure that your password is never sent plaintext, we either encrypt it using javascript, or ecrypt everything sent using ssl (having https:// start the url). Thus when not using ssl and javascript is not working, the password box is disabled for your security.

SSL Certificate Error

In order to use SSL encryption a site must have a security certificate. In order to prevent people from pretending to be you, these certificates can be "signed" by a certificate authority. Unfortunatly, these cost money, and since we do not want to raise dues, we are not using a certificate authority, but rather have a self signed certifiate. This means that if someone really really wanted to they could pretend to our site and you woud not be albe to tell the difference. Fortunately there are two things that will prevent this. First, no one would ever put the effort in required to do that, becasue there's very little to be gained. Second, if you permenantly accept our certificate, then it won't give you a warning again unless the certificate has changed, and in order to spoof our site the certificate would have to change. There is a unique ID for our certificate that is available upon request from our webmaster, if you are worried that someone is spoofing our site. Once this certificate is accepted our site is as secure as any.
